What MileFlying collects, how we use it, and who we share it with. Short and plain.
Who this applies to
This policy covers anyone who visits mileflying.com, signs up for the free or paid newsletter, books a 1-on-1 call, or submits a form (contact, credit card consultation, points booking service).
What we collect
Information you give us directly
- Email address and first name, when you sign up for the newsletter or submit a form.
- Travel preferences: home airport, points programs you hold, cabin class, destination regions. Only for paid subscribers so we can filter deal alerts.
- Payment information (credit card, billing address). Processed entirely by Patreon and its payment partners (Stripe, PayPal). MileFlying never sees or stores your full card number.
- Form submissions: anything you type into the contact, credit card consultation, or points booking forms.
Information collected automatically
- Basic server logs from Vercel (our hosting provider): IP address, browser type, pages visited. Used to detect abuse and understand traffic patterns.
How we use it
- To send you the deal alerts and newsletters you signed up for.
- To respond to questions you ask us by email or form.
- To filter deal alerts based on the preferences you provide (paid tier only).
- To process payments and manage your membership through Patreon (our membership platform) and its payment partners.
- To improve the product, fix bugs, and understand which content subscribers value.
Who we share it with
We keep your data private. The only parties that process your information on our behalf are:
- Patreon: membership platform (member records, tier management, billing dashboards). Patreon's privacy policy.
- Stripe / PayPal: payment processing for memberships, accessed via Patreon. Stripe's privacy policy.
- Resend: transactional email delivery (deal alerts, newsletter, account emails). Resend's privacy policy.
- Vercel: web hosting for mileflying.com. Vercel's privacy policy.
- Cal.com: 1-on-1 call scheduling. Cal.com's privacy policy.
- Web3Forms: contact form delivery. Web3Forms's privacy policy.
We do not sell your data. We do not share your email with advertisers, data brokers, or any third party for marketing purposes.
Your rights
You can:
- Update your preferences via the link in any MileFlying email.
- Unsubscribe in one click from the footer of any MileFlying email.
- Manage billing and cancel your paid membership directly through your Patreon account at patreon.com/mileflying.
- Request a copy of the personal information we hold about you. Email us at contact@mileflying.com.
- Request deletion of your data. Email the same address. We will delete your subscriber record within 30 days. Note: records held by Patreon, Stripe, and Resend are retained per their policies and Canadian tax law.
Canadian residents have additional rights under the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).
Where your data lives
Membership and billing are managed by Patreon, with infrastructure primarily in the United States. Email delivery is handled by Resend (US infrastructure). Payment processing runs on Stripe and Patreon's billing partners. Data crosses the Canada / United States border as part of normal service delivery. By using MileFlying you consent to this transfer.
Cookies and tracking
MileFlying does not use advertising cookies, cross-site trackers, or third-party analytics that profile you. Any cookies set are strictly functional (e.g. remembering your preferences token during the signup flow).
Children
MileFlying is not intended for anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from minors.
Changes to this policy
If we update this policy in a material way (for example, adding a new processor or changing how we use data), we will post the updated version here and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Significant changes will also be announced via email to active subscribers.
